California Department of Motor Vehicles Engages International Biometric Group To Provide Biometric Consulting Services 

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 2002--California Department of Motor Vehicles has engaged International Biometric Group to provide biometric consulting services. The total value of the contract is $350,000. 

There are currently 24 million active drivers license and identification records on file with the DMV. The California driver's license is statutorily recognized as the primary form of identification used in the state and the DMV is exploring the use of biometric technology to protect Californians from fraud and loss. 

"The DMV's goal is to ensure that each individual has only one unique drivers license," stated Wesley Goo, Manager, Systems Development Unit, California DMV.  "We are looking to International Biometric Group's expertise to help us in meeting this goal." IBG will advise the DMV on appropriate biometric technologies, assist with the development of the Request for Proposal, analyze responses submitted in response to the Request for Proposal and assist with the Feasibility Study Report.
