Signature Verification: Strengths and Weaknesses
Signature verification has several strengths. Because of the large amount of data present in a signature verification template, as well as the difficulty in mimicking the behavior of signing, signature verification technology is highly resistant to imposter attempts. As a result of the low False Acceptance Rates (FAR), a measure of the likelihood that a user claiming a false identity will be accepted, deployers can have a high confidence level that successfully matched users are who they claim to be.
