Common Biometric Applications 

Biometrics can be used anywhere keys, ID cards, PINs or passwords are currently used today. In addition, biometrics may be used where there are poor, manual or non-existent means of authentication. Biometrics can be used in a broad range of applications:

PC/LAN Logon - Many vendors have software that allows users to logon to PCs and local area networks, especially Windows NT. This reduces the user's need to remember and change passwords while reducing the administrator's need to frequently reset and manage passwords.
