High Performance System Design

IBG brings extensive skills in custom integration of fingerprint, face, and iris recognition sensors and algorithms. IBG delivers practical, in-depth knowledge of which algorithms are best-suited to multimodal implementation, as well as which algorithms are capable of exploiting real-world biometric data.

IBG has analyzed dozens of biometric matching algorithms for performance and capabilities and has integrated dozens of biometric matching algorithms into client systems. IBG provides a unique combination of (1) rigorous algorithm evaluation capabilities and (2) real, hands-on experience integrating algorithms into operational systems.

IBG evaluates algorithm performance for government and commercial clients in terms of enrollment rates, accuracy, and throughput. IBG evaluates algorithm design elements such as interface, architecture, and configurable parameters to determine the most efficient way to deploy flexible and scalable systems. IBG has evaluated numerous fingerprint, face, iris, and emerging modality algorithms for organizations including NIJ, US Army, DHS, CA DMV, and dozens of commercial clients.

IBG has experience designing high-availability architectures and operating high-availability clusters that utilize redundant nodes and automated failover processes to provide high availability of services for critical systems. These implementations are designed to eliminate single points of failure by utilizing multiple network connections and multiply-connected duplicate data storage components to house critical databases. In the design of these systems, aside from technical requirements, issues such as licensing compliance and availability of vendor support must also be addressed.

IBG understands and has experience with business continuity planning concepts such as disaster recovery. As a requirement of its DHS-accredited testing facility, IBG developed and maintains contingency, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans designed to restore and resume operations by: minimizing the effects of incidents and disasters; ensuring that resources, personnel and processes can resume operations in a timely manner; and sustaining core business functions in the interim. IBG has performed risk planning and mitigation activities, and developed incident tracking processes to deal with security and other incidents that may affect a system.
